LHIBRO is a project funded by the former Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, grant no. RTI2018-097450-B-I00). Its aim is to build a map of British Hispanism in the Romantic period by exploring and analysing the presence of Hispanic literature in the British periodical press in the years 1802-1832. The legacy of Hispanic literature and culture among British canonical authors and works during the first decades of the nineteenth century has been widely attested. Nonetheless, the role of the periodical press as a vehicle for the dissemination of Hispanic literature and culture in Great Britain, and as a tool for the shaping of public opinion about them, has been neglected, despite its relevance for the development of the Romantic movement. The project, running from 2019 to 2021, is based in the Department of English at the University of Valladolid. It offers a catalogue of the articles and reviews on Hispanic literature that appeared in a selection of the most representative journals to shed light on the ideological and aesthetic implications of its reception in Great Britain.
