This is the second review of Madame De Stäel’s famous work on German Romantic ideas (the first review, authored by Francis Jeffrey, came out in the February 1813 issue). James Mackintosh reviews Murray’s reprint of the Paris 1813 recent edition. He is mainly concerned with French German and English literatures and pays practically no attention to Spanish literature.

Spanish authors mentioned:

Pedro Calderón de la Barca (1600-1681)
Lope Félix de Vega Carpio(1562-1635)
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616)
